TEHRAN (Tasnim) – The visiting Somali information minister praised Iran’s scientific achievements, asking the Islamic Republic to share its experiences in the area of science and technology with the northeast African country.
“We have a young generation, which is ready to receive technology and we are very willing to transfer the Islamic Republic of Iran’s discoveries and achievements in the area of science and technology to our academics and teachers,” Guled Hussein Qasim said.
He made the remarks during a meeting with Iranian Minister of Science, Researches and Technology Mohammad Farhadi in Tehran on Saturday.
He further said that he is conveying a message of friendship to the Iranian nation, and expressed the hope that the relations between the two Muslim countries would be promoted in diverse areas, including science and culture.
Farhadi, for his part, voiced Tehran’s preparedness to provide scholarships to five Somali students per year to study in the Iranian universities, in a bid to promote cultural and educational cooperation between the two countries.
Elsewhere in his remarks, the Iranian science minister pointed to the medical services provided by Iran's Red Crescent Society in Somalia, and said some medical training can also be offered to the African country.
Expansion of relations with African countries in all political, economic and cultural fields is a matter of prime importance in Iranian foreign policy agenda.
