Should if-you-cannot-beat-them-join-them theory apply?

The Somali Government has remained in a fledgling status for an unreasonable period of time, and thus far no one bothered to raise the lack of feasibility and growth issue of the government and its various entities.

By now, the government and its supporters should have grasped that the willingness of the international community to send more aid is waning. If no viable actions are demonstrated shortly, the current administration may become irrelevant in the eyes of the international community and its current supporters.

To give you the gist of the story, the so-called expert politicians and the leaders, including the lawmakers, with the likelihood opportunity to foster true reconciliation in the country have refrained from making honest commitment to support a lasting peace and prosperity. The perception of any reasonable individual would have been that either the capable folks do not care about their country for some individual reasons or they have no aptitude to end the mayhem through peaceful and political negotiation.

There is no comprehensible pretext to maintain the current status quo while an unprecedented number of innocent Somalis continue to lose their lives or seek a refuge in inhospitable environments.

The Government still appears to be attempting to swallow an element that is bigger than its head with no proper reckoning—what happened to the expertise of the political consultants that surround Villa Somalia.  Lack of systematic control of the government resources and no executable strategic planning are making the international donors leery to extend more aids. The unfilled promises of the government to end the mayhem that merely fed the militant’s ambition to recruit innocent children to fight unholy wars made the international donors doubt the government’s ability to perform any notable task to defend its civilians.

Two of the major reasons why the fragile administration is becoming more fragile are lack of Governmental viability to take action that materialize and lack of accountability of its members.

The untold story is about the greed and callousness of the politicians themselves who strive to fill their pockets, while their country and its people are evaporating right before their eyes.

It is also a heartbreaking phenomenon for the country not to find the selfless leader with the mind and the means to bring the direly needed and long-awaited peace to the nation, which has been on a life-support for significant amount of time.

Thus far, no promise from a single Somali politician or leader stood the test of time, and joint-them-if-you-cannot-beat-them theory has not surfaced from anyone’s mind or group for a good cause. May Allah save the nation once known for its greatness and pride.
