FOUR people have died on local roads during the past week. Last Wednesday evening, three Somali immigrants died in the Du Toit’s Kloof pass when a tyre of the vehicle they were travelling in allegedly burst.

The vehicle skidded off the road after exiting the Huguenot tunnel on the Worcester side of the pass and rolled.

The occupants were scattered across the accident scene.

Hamse Abdi Burale, Ibrahim Moosa Adoa and Mohammed Muhamed Abdi, who had all recently moved to Groenheuwel, were killed instantly.

A motor cyclist died on Friday afternoon, also on the pass.

Cilliers Kok (25) of Goodwood was travelling over the pass when he lost control of his motorcycle and slammed into the side of the mountain.

Twelve school children narrowly escaped serious injury when the vehicle they were travelling in crashed into a garden wall at the corner of Gilfillan and Desmore Streets in Paarl East.

Nine children were treated at Paarl Hospital for minor injuries.

The driver of the bakkie who transports children too and from various schools in the area, allegedly had a black-out before he lost control of the vehicle.
