A remembrance ceremony is scheduled for 3:30 p.m. today to honor the four Somali children who were killed by their father, Said Biyad, on Oct. 6, 2006.

Those children - Sidi, 8, Fatuma, 6, Khadija, 4 and Goshany, 2 - were buried this day a year ago.

The ceremony is being organized by the Fight Crimes Against Children Campaign and will be held near where the children were killed at the Iroquois Homes housing complex on Bicknell Avenue in south-central Louisville.

It will be near a tree stump where the children once played in the courtyard outside of Building 44. The children were found with their throats slashed in their three-bedroom apartment in the housing complex.

"It was a very heinous crime," said community activist Christopher 2X, who expects many neighbors who knew the chidren to attend the ceremony. He said he was not sure if their mother, Fatuma Amir, would attend.
