In a drama that feels like a documentary, a Somali mother in Ottawa works two cleaning jobs to support her two daughters and send money home to her husband, but it's not enough. The family is evicted and winds up in a motel, where her teenaged eldest pulls away from her and flirts with the neighbor boy.
Director Helene Klodawsky improvised the script with a first-time actress and her two children, seeking to convey the realities of homelessness without exploiting actual homeless people. She succeeds. (7 p.m. Sat., Oak Street, plus 7 p.m. Sun., St. Anthony Main. 80 min.)
