Authority Information and Public Relations Service Head, Samson Wondimu, told WIC that the construction of the road was launched four years ago with the stated sum earmarked by the federal government.
He said bridges and sewerage canals were also constructed alongside the road and the construction of the road was fully carried out by Ethiopian Roads Authority (ERA).
The construction of the road would have a significant socio-economic benefit to residents of the state, he said, further adding that the authority has been asphalting the 271kms Degehabur-Kebridehar-Gode road at a cost of more than 1.1 billion birr.
The Degehabur-Kebridehar-Gode road, whose construction was launched a year ago, is expected to get finalized after two years as the authority organized itself with human resources and materials.
Samson finally said the construction of the roads would help speed up development in the state besides reducing road accidents and shortening distance.
