The government of Uganda is appealing to other member states in the East African Community to deploy troops in Somalia to boost the fight against terrorism.

The call comes after Kenya sent its troops, joining Uganda, and Burundi.

The state internal affairs minister,  Ambassador James Baba says the Somali based terrorists, the Alshabab are still waging a war against East Africa and need to be countered.

Ambassador Baba says it’s only through concerted efforts among all the East African countries that the threat of terrorism can be won.

The minister made these remarks at the regional meeting on the progress of the implementation of the National Focal Point inKampala.
