Foreign Minister Datuk Seri Anifah Aman, in a statement today, said the Somali leader also expressed regret over the incident in which Noramfaizul Mohd Nor, 39, was killed.
"The Somali minister of internal affairs has assured us of a full investigation and report (relating to the incident)," said Anifah.
Noramfaizul, 39, was one of the 55 volunteers in the Putera 1Malaysia Club humanitarian mission to assist victims of the drought and famine in Somalia.
Anifah said security at the volunteers' living quarters had also been stepped up.
Noramfaizul died after a stray bullet hit his right shoulder and pierced his lungs in the sniper incident at 5.40 pm local time (10.40 pm Malaysian time) yesterday.
His remains are being flown back to Malaysia in a Royal Malaysian Air Force (RMAF) aircraft which is expected to arrive at about 9 am tomorrow at the RMAF base in Subang.
The rest of the aid mission members are also flying back.
"The Somali security forces will be heavily guarding the group as they head to the airport," said Anifah, who expressed his condolences to Noramfaizul's family.
