The “Lwini” foundation Thursday in Luanda delivered to the Angolan Foreign Ministry (Mirex) goods raised from the campaign of solidarity with the people of Somalia, Angop learned.

Delivering the goods, “Fundação Lwini” deputy chairwoman, Joana Lina, said the organisation was responding to the call for assistance to relieve the suffering of the people of Somalia, as solidarity was part of the institution’s daily activity.

According to the official, because they know the value of solidarity and what it represents, “Lwini” members pulled together to raise goods to support the initiative.

“For us, solidarity is sharing, helping, supporting and worrying about other people’s plight,” she stated.

On the other hand, Joana Lina thanked all those who contributed to the goods raising.

In his turn, the director of Mirex’s Office of Study and Analysis, Francisco da Cruz, speaking on behalf of the secretary of State and Government’s coordinator for the  initiative, Rui Mangueira, thanked the move of “Lwini” and other organisations that joined the campaign.

According to Francisco da Cruz, this move responds to the appeal to the country to assist Somalia, currently faced with a humanitarian crisis resulting from drought and armed in that region.

He recalled that Angola also went through a similar experience which was overcome through determination and solidarity of other peoples and nations.

The campaign of solidarity with Somalia that is closing today (Thursday), started three months ago, with the participation of almost all provinces of Angola.
