Mogadishu (HOL) -- The none-militant Islamist group in Somalia, Ahlu Sunna Wal Jama’a said that the increasing insecurity in the capital was to be attributed to the weakness and lack of security plans of the federal government’s institutions, saying they want to pacify the capital.

Chairman of the executive committee of the Islamist group Sheik Abdirisaq Mohamed Al- Asha’ri said that his men were ready to make Mogadishu a secure place if the federal government of Somalia gives them the chance to play their role.

“My forces are capable of tightening security in the capital and we know how to defeat Al Shabab” said the moderate Islamist leader whose fighters ousted Al Shabab out of more towns and cities in central Somalia several years ago.

“Several times before we sent such call to the Somali government and now we are reiterating that we are ready to pacify the capital” he said adding that his forces were also ready to keep guard the key government buildings including the parliament and the presidential palace.

He said that Somali government’s security agencies have no explicit security plans that was the main reason behind the increasing lawlessness in the capital.
