MOGADISHU (HOL) - Outgoing Senate speaker Abdi Hashi has lashed out at Prime Minister Mohamed Roble accusing him of unilateral decisions in the management of the Somaliland electoral process.
A faction headed by Hashi said in a statement Tuesday Roble did not have authority over the conduct of senate and Lower House elections for Somaliland warning unless the issue is resolved, elections will not happen.
A similar process will be followed for the Banaadiri community. The PM’s approval of the list effectively locks out Hashi and Deputy PM Mahdi Guled both of whom have been fighting for the control of the Somaliland process.
The Council of Presidential Candidates (CPC) has also condemned the new electoral procedures noting the selection of delegates should only be reserved for the elders.
NCC had directed both the elders and civil society representatives to be involved in the process.
However, unconfirmed reports claim that the two sides resolved the matter during a dinner meeting between FMS leaders,PM and CPC members hosted by Galmudug president Ahmed Qoorqoor Monday night.
There was no communication on the matter.
