Mogadishu (HOL) - Ilyas Sheikh Ahmed was elected to the HOP147 representing Galmudug on Wednesday morning in the Dhusamareb.
This seat was previously held by Mahad Salad, who vacated the position to head the National Security and Intelligence Agency (NISA).
The interim electoral committee for vacant seats announced that Ahmed defeated Amina Tahleil Warsame by receiving 86 votes.
The Electoral Commission is expected to announce the election will be held for the seat vacated by Prime Minister Hamsa Abdi Barre.
