Las Anod (HOL) - Heavy fighting again broke out between Somaliland forces and SSC-Khatumo forces in Las Anod town in the Sool region on Tuesday morning for the second straight day.
Residents said that Tuesday's fighting was more intense than the fight in the town on Monday, as both sides received reinforcement troops.
The fighting is currently going on in Mount Sayyid, where yesterday's clash began.
Unconfirmed reports claim that military personnel from Somaliland have joined the SSC.
Mohamud Ayid Dirir, the Puntland minister of information, stated in the media that Puntland had supported the ongoing battle in Las Anod in all regards.
At least 34 people were killed in clashes between soldiers and anti-government fighters in a disputed town in Somalia's northern breakaway region of Somaliland on Monday, doctors and officials said.
Somaliland's government said on Twitter that armed men attacked army bases and state offices in Las Anod early Monday morning. It accused unnamed "traditional leaders" of recruiting the attackers and said it had thwarted the assault.
