Hargeisa (HOL) -Former Chairman of the Somaliland People's Party (SPP), Suleiman Isse Ahmed Haglotosiye, has called for the removal of the Somaliland army from Gooja-Adde. In an interview with SSTV, Haglotosiye stated that Somaliland troops would be forcibly removed if President Bihi did not remove the Somaliland forces peacefully.
Haglotosiye emphasized the importance of a peaceful departure, warning that the use of force could result in significant losses. However, he stated that force would be used if it cannot be avoided.
Furthermore, Haglotosiye accused Somaliland of causing trouble in Las Anod, which he claims was the stronghold of support for his former political party. He is one of the founders of the SSC movement and a former health minister in Somaliland. In 2009, he made an unsuccessful bid for the Puntland presidency.
In early March, Haglotosiye announced the withdrawal of his party from Somaliland politics due to the ongoing violence in Las Anod. The SPP, a relatively new political party created in January 2022, primarily serves the interests of Boo'ame and Buuhoodle residents. Haglotosiye accused the Somaliland government of impeding peace efforts by using military force against the people.
