MOGADISHU (HOL) — The Somali National Intelligence and Security Agency (NISA), in collaboration with the country's security forces, apprehended two Al-Shabaab militants planning to conduct attacks in Mogadishu.
NISA's report disclosed that the arrests occurred as the militants, equipped with explosives, aimed to disrupt the peace in Mogadishu.
According to NISA, "The government's security forces are constantly vigilant, securing the city around the clock with the support of Somali citizens. The suspects were caught red-handed with explosives, intending to harm civilians."
The NISA statement, however, did not specify the exact location of the operation that led to the apprehension of the Al-Shabaab members carrying bombs.
Although Mogadishu has experienced sporadic attacks by Al-Shabaab, the city's security has progressively improved due to enhanced military efforts against the group.
