Zakariye Hussein Mohamed Osman, a student from the Banadir region attending Al-Marwazi School in Deyniile district, earned the top score with 89%. This year’s exams also saw the participation of students from districts recently liberated from al-Shabab, such as Adan-Yabal, Harardhere, and Elder, marking the first time in 33 years that students from these areas have taken national exams.

Minister of Education Farah Sheikh Abdulqadir noted an increase in both the number of students and exam centers compared to previous years, with 37,038 students from 736 schools sitting for the exams at 136 centers nationwide. However, students in Puntland and Somaliland did not participate due to ongoing political conflicts with the federal government.

The exams were marked by stricter regulations to ensure integrity, and 2,905 results were nullified due to cheating.
