Jowhar (HOL)—The President of the Hirshabelle regional administration, Ali Abdullahi Hussein Guudlawe, announced on Tuesday that the governor of the Middle Shabelle region, Ahmed Meyre Makaraan, also known as Ahmed Faal, had been dismissed.
Mohamud Mohamed Noor, known as Masdile, has been appointed as the new governor of the Middle Shabelle region.
Ahmed Meyre Makaran, who held the position since 2016, became the longest-serving governor in the Middle Shabelle region. During Makaran's tenure, nearly ten governors were in charge of the Hiiran region.
The governor's removal coincides with President Guudlawe's appointment and reshuffling of some of his Council of Ministers on Monday night.
The regional state leaders did not provide an explanation for the governor's reshuffle, appointment, and removal. However, it follows recent complaints from some clan leaders living in Hirshabelle regarding power-sharing within the council.
