Baku (HOL) — The Head of the State Protocol Department at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Anar Najafli, on Wednesday received the credentials of Somalia's non-resident ambassador to Azerbaijan, Fathudin Ali Mohamed.
Ambassador Fathudin, who is also Somalia's Ambassador to Turkey, and Najafli discussed ways to strengthen bilateral relations between Somalia and Azerbaijan, particularly in trade, education, and development cooperation.

Ambassador Fathudin's visit to Azerbaijan also coincides with preparations for the 29th annual UN Climate Conference (COP29), which will take place in Baku from November 11 to 22, 2024. The Somali government delegation, led by President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud and including cabinet members such as Minister of Environment and Climate Change Khadija Mohamed Al Makhzoumin, is set to participate in the high-level environmental summit.
Ambassador Fathudin also held discussions with Azerbaijani officials and other organizers of the upcoming summit, as Somalia prepares to actively engage in global environmental and climate change conversations at COP29.
