SSC-Khatumo warns Puntland over land dispute, vows to defend territory

Las Anod (HOL) – The interim administration of SSC-Khatumo has accused Puntland State of encroaching on its territorial land, calling the move a violation and an insult to its administrational responsibility.

SSC-Khatumo's Minister of Information, Najib Barkhadle Warsame, issued a strong statement on Tuesday, denouncing Puntland's claim over areas belonging to SSC-Khatumo. "It is unacceptable that our neighbour, Puntland, claims part of the land governed by SSC-Khatumo. This is a clear violation, and we have warned the Puntland administration against such actions," said Warsame.

The Minister also cautioned regional agencies involved in the land dispute, urging them to avoid any actions that could escalate into a security threat.

He stressed that SSC-Khatumo is prepared to defend its land and residents from potential aggression.

The statement comes as Puntland plans to implement German-funded projects, implemented by UNICEF, in the Sool and Ayn areas—territories SSC-Khatumo claims as its own.
