Mogadishu (HOL) - At least ten people have been killed in a series of attacks in Beledhawo town in the Gedo region over the past several hours, local sources confirmed on Monday.
In the Farjano neighborhood of Beledhawo district, five civilians were shot dead on Sunday night. Among the victims was a sick man and four relatives two brothers and two close family members who were reportedly caring for him.
The killings are believed to be linked to ongoing clan-related revenge attacks, which have surged in recent months across several districts in south and central Somalia.
Security forces in Beledhawo have begun operations to pursue the groups suspected of carrying out the attacks. Residents reported a tense atmosphere in the district on Monday as fears of further violence grew.
As of now, officials from the district administration, regional authorities in Gedo, and security agencies have not issued any public statements regarding the latest killings.
