Somali Prime Minister, German Ambassador discuss strengthening bilateral cooperation

Mogadishu (HOL) — Somali Prime Minister Hamse Abdi Barre on Tuesday held a high-level meeting with German Ambassador to Somalia Sebastian Groth to discuss expanding cooperation between the two countries in key areas including security, investment, and economic development.

According to a statement from the Prime Minister’s Office, the talks underscored both nations’ commitment to deepening diplomatic and development ties as Somalia continues its recovery and reform efforts.

Prime Minister Hamse expressed his appreciation to the German government for its consistent support to the Federal Government of Somalia and to the Somali people. He emphasized the importance of enhancing collaboration to advance stability, governance, and sustainable growth.

Ambassador Groth reaffirmed Germany’s longstanding partnership with Somalia, describing the relationship as one rooted in friendship and shared values. He said Berlin remains committed to supporting Somalia’s state-building and development priorities.

“The two countries share a deep friendship,” Ambassador Groth said, adding that Germany will continue to strengthen cooperation “to achieve common goals for the development of Somalia.”

The meeting is part of ongoing diplomatic engagements aimed at bolstering Somalia’s international partnerships and mobilizing support for national reconstruction, security reforms, and investment opportunities.
