Mogadishu (HOL) — Somali Minister of Commerce and Industry Mahamud Ahmed Adan (Geesood) met with his Turkish counterpart, Prof. Ömer Bolat, in Istanbul on Saturday on the sidelines of the Turkey-Africa Business and Economic Forum.
The bilateral talks focused on strengthening the historic economic and trade partnership between Somalia and Turkey, with an emphasis on identifying new opportunities to expand trade and investment between the two nations.
“This cooperation is expected to significantly contribute to Somalia’s economic growth and stimulate the development of the country’s private sector,” the ministry said in a statement.
The meeting reflects the mutual commitment of Somalia and Turkey to deepen economic collaboration and represents a strategic step toward transforming Somalia’s raw resources into viable export commodities.
As Somalia continues to navigate geopolitical complexities, its partnership with Türkiye underscores a strategic approach to resource management and sustainable development. Both countries are now positioned to unlock the potential of Somalia’s energy and natural resource sectors for mutual benefit.
