Mogadishu (HOL) — Somali Minister of Internal Security Abdullahi Sheikh Ismail Fartaag met with Burkina Faso’s leader, Captain Ibrahim Traoré, during an official visit to Ouagadougou on Wednesday.
During the meeting, Minister Fartaag delivered a message from Somali President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud focused on strengthening bilateral relations and expanding security cooperation between the two countries.
The meeting reflects Somalia’s broader efforts to expand international security partnerships beyond the Horn of Africa as it seeks to strengthen regional and cross-regional cooperation against militant threats.
Both Somalia and Burkina Faso continue to face persistent security challenges from armed extremist groups operating within their territories.
The visit comes as Somalia intensifies diplomatic engagement with African partners in support of ongoing security reforms and stabilization efforts.
