Mogadishu (HOL) - Somali ambassador to the United Kingdom, Abdullahi Mohamed Ali (Sanbaloolshe) has been appointed as the new Director of the Somali National Security Service (NSS). His nomination comes a day after the AlShabaab attack on the Presidential Palace  for the second time this year. He was nominated for the post by the Prime Minister and endorsed by the President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud.

The nomination of Abdullahi Mohamed Ali Sanbalooshe follows a major upheaval of government security branches by the President of Somalia. Among those who were discharged of their duties by the Somali President was the former commander of the Police force Abdikakim Saacid.
Today's nominations include the national security minister appointed to Khalif Ahmed Ereg who was a senior government official and a former commander of the Banadir security services. Ereg has previously escaped a fatal alshabab planted explosives.

Abdullahi Sanbalooshe was a former senior officer at the United Nations Office for Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) and a former National Security Minister under the last administration led by Sheikh Sharif Ahmed. Further,  he was one of the key players who brokered a deal between the Somali government and the Jubba administration last year.
