Prime Minister Mohamed Abdullahi Mohamed Farmaajo

Somali’s president  Sharif Sheikh Ahmed  on Thursday(14.10.10)  named new prime minister who had replaced the resigned prime minister Omar Abdirashid Ali Sharmarke.

A former diplomat and Somali –American  businessman, Mohamed Abdullahi Mohamed has been appointed ; unknown as when Sheikh Sharif him self come to office .The new prime minister had got his  degree a decade ago in America and he is a fresh in the Somali’s political scenario .

“ Mohamed Abdullahi is a capable man who has knowledge about law and politics” said Abdihakim Mohamud Fiqi a former colleague to BBC Somali service.. Meanwhile Ambassador Abdihakim Ugas Ali Yasin  in Nairobi said that the new prime minister is a calm, well-mannered and respectful person  who can add  positive contribution towards Somali politics .

It might be partially believed  that  Mr. Mohamed Abdullahi Mohamed and the President have a matching philosophy  when it comes federalism and federal constitution , an issue in which president Sharif disfavors it…

The semi autonomous region of Puntland in Eastern Somalia has welcomed that the president  named a man from  “Marehan” sub clan of Darod, but expected availability of a  well known politician in the same clan .

“Actually we are not against this nomination of the  new prime minister personally  but  the Djibouti peace process was violated. All the three highest  posts of the government; president, prime minister and the speaker were proffered to the former Union of Islamic courts (UIC) .. “ Abdulkadir Abdi Hashi , Puntland minister told BBC Somali Service..

Since last two decades , Somalia has got more than 6 prime ministers but none of  them did nothing tangible for the shaky nation as well as the desperate Somali people though Somalia’s problem seems beyond the capacity of premier  or president ..

The new prime minister should roll up his sleeves to at least  come up with a fresh  independent plan which can bring positive change to the Somalia , if not  he may pursue the path of pervious head of  ministers

There are certain difficult tasks which need to be carefully observed and categorized ; the announcement of  a quality ministers is number one, to balance clan distribution  system “ 4.5”  is number two and last to achieve  what  his predecessor has   failed to attain.

According to the current  situation in Mogadishu and the rift between Al-shabab top Commanders ,the new prime minister seems  little bit auspicious ; but still Al-shabab is strong and powerful , while the government is lacking to control the capital as whole..

To be successful ,the prime minister should maintain the relation ship between his cabinet, the parliament and should daily monitor the situation of thousands of displaced people in Somalia particularly in Mogadishu’s suburbs.

Somalia’s fragile Transitional Federal Government is normally seen as corrupt and ineffective and one  of the most complicated assignments for the new premier is to correct the perception which makes the country to be nicknamed a “ Failed state”….

A  careful balanced collaboration with the international community , neighboring countries as well as aid agencies can at least boost up his anticipation to make a change.
