Participants are asked to bring a dish or soft drinks or both for their family and others. Hot dogs, hamburgers, chicken and veggie patties, grills, games, music and African-American history information will be provided.
Entertainment will include Beats on the Block, Hip Hop Moves, traditional Somali dance, Nu Way Missionary Baptist Church Choir, Koran Baskins, Lu Cane, Mixed Unity, DB&J and others, plus a special appearance by REACH.
Juneteenth marks the anniversary of the day that black slaves in Texas found out they’d been freed — two years after the Emancipation Proclamation was signed.
